!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! early SR5 Access cab Tundra, RWD, 168k miles, with the V6, AND... ANNNNND...

Kinja'd!!!

One of these doohickeys.

T his doesn’t really tick many boxes for me: I want a T100 (impossible to find) or a Tacoma (hell no I’m not paying 20 grand for a 20 year old truck GOSHDARNIT). But the 1st gen Tundra never leaves my mind because it always seems to pop up as a much better value. The crappiest part is that it actually wouldn’t fit in my garage (218" long with access cab). And this one makes even less sense, because it’s not a V8, it’s not 4WD, and it’s not a longbed to make up some level of utility.

On the other hand, that color is HAWT. And it’s [exaggerated air quotes] “lowwwwwww” miles, for a 2-decade old Tundra anyway. And it’s the V6, AND manual which means they’ll never sell it. So perhaps there’s a good deal to be had here?

It’s fun to dream .

Here are some other things I want:

Wait, they made a single cab short bed Tundra? I have NEVER seen one.

And I can tell you that the first gen Tundra is a really good truck and the V8 will last until the end of time. The V6? IDK. The access cab bed is actually long enough that there are very few things you can’t fit with the gate down. And it can sit 4 with reasonable comfort and 5 in a pinch.

There is no shame in being dedicated to a brand that has repeatedly earned your trust and loyalty.

The craziest thing to me is that Toyota has a huge amount of current and future classic trucks. Even Toyota diehards are underestimating how much bigger Toyota is going to be in future car collections.

1) High miles and rust belt

2) even higher miles and base

3) nice, but over 300k miles?!?

:(

Maybe, but it might be a hoot. I drove a new 2012 5.7 longbed single cab for a year at work , it was like driving a freight train.

Don’t let the “KY” for the state fool you, Lexington and Louisville are not really any less rust than Dayton.

On an unrelated note, that blue Tundra above looks quite appealing (I didn't check the price, they usually bring me down when looking at trucks that move under their own power and have doors)

How about this single cab long boi . ‘02, supercharged V6 with only 37k miles. Price seems super high for something where crazy low miles don’t really matter. But holy low miles, Zoidberg!

There’s a part of me that, once the world stabilizes, if it ever does, is thinking about trading my TL in on a 4Runner of the same vintage. I don’t need two super sedans, and I’m not giving up the Aristo.
